Tesla App Code Hints at FSD Referral Rewards and X Money Payments

Tesla may soon reward owners who get friends hooked on FSD (Supervised). Code found in Tesla app version 4.62.0 and later points to an upcoming FSD referral program, along with support for X Money as a payment method, according to Not a Tesla App, which reported both findings on October 27.

FSD referral rewards

Based on the code, owners who refer someone to an FSD subscription would earn a free month, or possibly several months, of FSD (Supervised). You would be able to choose which vehicle on your Tesla account gets the reward. New phrases in the app include:

  • “If someone subscribes with your link, pick which vehicle gets the reward”
  • “Confirm Vehicle for Reward”
  • “Select the vehicle you’d like to apply the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial to”

That last line suggests the rewards would be applied as free FSD trials. The app also contains front and back images of a digital FSD referral “coin,” which will likely appear when you refer someone. TeslaHubs reported the same strings and coin artwork.

It fits Tesla’s push to grow subscriptions. In its Q3 update, @Tesla said the FSD Supervised attach rate grew to over 75% of new vehicle deliveries in North America.

X Money in the Tesla app

The same update shows Tesla preparing to let owners add X Money as a payment method. Once live, it could be used for Tesla Shop purchases, Supercharging sessions and FSD (Supervised) subscriptions. X Money is the payment platform built into X, and Not a Tesla App notes it can already be used to pay the $5,000 upfront deposit on the new Roadster.

Not live yet

Tesla has not announced either feature, how many free months a referral would earn, a launch date or which countries would get them. Features found in app code do not always launch, or launch in the form the code suggests. Canadian owners already have FSD (Supervised) and many are running v14.3.13 in update 2026.38.5.11, so we will be watching closely to see if referral rewards reach Canada.

In the meantime, make sure your app is up to date through the App Store or Google Play.
