Tesla Opens 8-Stall V4 Supercharger in Norwood, Ontario on Highway 7

Ontario drivers heading east on Highway 7 have a new place to charge. Tesla has opened a Supercharger in Norwood, Ontario, and its official charging account confirmed the site on X on Wednesday evening, October 28.

What Tesla confirmed

The @TeslaCharging post was short: “New Tesla Supercharger: Norwood, ON (8 stalls)”, with a link to the site on Tesla’s Find Us map. Drive Tesla Canada (@DriveTeslaca) reported more details:

  • Location: 4309 Highway 7, at a local Circle K
  • Hardware: eight V4 Supercharger posts delivering up to 325 kW
  • Tesla owners: $0.46 per kWh
  • Other EVs: $0.64 per kWh, with a NACS adapter required

Those prices come from Tesla’s listing as reported by Drive Tesla. Supercharger rates can change and can vary by time of day, so check the Tesla app for the current price before you plug in.

A surprise site

This one was not on anybody’s radar until the summer. Drive Tesla says crews were first spotted building the station in July, and the project never appeared on Tesla’s Find Us map before construction began. That makes it an unusual, unannounced addition to the Ontario network. It took about four months to go from first sighting to opening.

Norwood is a village in Asphodel-Norwood township in Peterborough County, just east of Peterborough on Highway 7. For owners driving between the Peterborough area and eastern Ontario, it adds a fast stop on a stretch of highway that has had fewer options than the 401.

Ontario’s busy October

The Norwood Supercharger opened about a week after Tesla’s new Kingston Supercharger on Highway 15. Both are V4 sites, which means longer cables and support for non-Tesla EVs using an adapter. If you are planning a winter road trip, remember that cold batteries charge slower, so precondition on the way by setting the Supercharger as your destination in the car’s navigation.
