Owners of older Model S and Model X vehicles finally have something new to try. Tesla has started rolling out FSD (Supervised) v14.3 Lite to Intel-powered Hardware 3 (HW3) Model S and Model X cars, the last group of HW3 vehicles that hadn’t received any version of FSD v14.
Tesla’s official AI account, @TeslaSI (Tesla Super Intelligence), posted on the evening of October 13: “FSD Supervised v14 Lite now rolling out to Intel Model S&X.” The build is arriving with software update 2026.38.5.1, according to Not a Tesla App and tracker Teslascope.
Which cars get it
This release is for pre-refresh Model S and Model X vehicles that pair HW3 with the older Intel Atom touchscreen computer, often called MCU2. Most of these cars were built before the 2021 refresh. HW3 Model 3 and Model Y cars got v14.3 Lite earlier this month, and AMD Ryzen-equipped HW3 Model S and X started getting Lite in late September. HW4 cars on the same build get FSD v14.3.12, which we covered earlier this week.
What’s new
Tesla’s v14.3 Lite release notes say it “distilled the intelligence from HW4 V14 into HW3,” bringing over reinforcement-learning improvements. The notes list:
- Better handling of navigation, merges and forks, pedestrians, traffic lights and vehicles cutting in.
- Fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering and more consistent lane centering.
- Speed Profiles available at all times, including a new, more relaxed SLOTH profile.
There’s a catch for legacy S and X owners, though. Early installs reported by Not a Tesla App and The Tesla Newswire show the Intel S/X build includes Speed Profiles and an FSD streak counter. It doesn’t include Arrival Options, starting FSD from Park, reversing or Actually Smart Summon, all of which HW3 Model 3 and Model Y owners got with Lite. Halloween Mode, also part of 2026.38.5.1, isn’t supported on Intel cars at all. Tesla hasn’t said whether the missing parking features will follow.
What about Canada?
FSD (Supervised) is available in Canada, and early installs tracked by TeslaFi and Teslascope have been in North America. Tesla hasn’t published a country-by-country schedule, and this is a staged rollout, so it may take days or weeks to reach every eligible car. If you own an Intel HW3 Model S or X with FSD, check Controls > Software for 2026.38.5.1.
Tesla has also said HW3 won’t support unsupervised FSD, so v14 Lite is likely the last major FSD branch for these cars until promised hardware upgrades arrive. As always, FSD (Supervised) needs an attentive driver ready to take over.
