Tesla Supercharger Voting Is Open Again: How Canadians Can Vote

Tesla has opened a new Supercharger voting round. Here is how Canadian owners can cast their 5 votes and suggest new sites.

Tesla’s Supercharger voting is open again, and Canadian owners can now help pick where the next stations go. The official @TeslaCharging account announced the new round on Wednesday evening, October 28, at the same time it named its latest winners.

What Tesla announced

Tesla Charging’s post said: “New winners announced on our Find Us map and a new Supercharger voting round is now open.” A follow-up post listed 36 winning locations around the world. Only one is in Canada: Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Quebec, on the Gaspé Peninsula. No Ontario location made this list.

Tesla hasn’t given an opening date, a stall count or an exact site for Sainte-Anne-des-Monts. A win means Tesla will look for a location there. It does not mean stalls are coming soon.

How voting works

Tesla’s Supercharger voting page explains the process:

  • Cast 5 votes: each voting cycle runs for about 3 months, and you get 5 votes, with 1 vote per proposed location.
  • Suggest a site: you can also suggest a new location for the next voting cycle.
  • Check the leaderboard: Tesla shows which proposed locations are getting the most votes.
  • Sign in: you vote with your Tesla account. Tesla notes that by voting, you agree it may contact you about Supercharging.

Tesla hasn’t said exactly when this round closes, so it’s best to vote early.

Votes do turn into chargers

It takes time, but winning sites do open. In the past few weeks Tesla Charging has labelled new stations as “Voting Winner Site”, including Key West, Florida (12 stalls) and Walla Walla, Washington (8 stalls). Each site still needs land, power and permits, so the gap between a win and a working charger can be long.

Canada has done well in recent rounds. The winners Tesla named in August were Crowsnest Pass, Alberta; Tobermory, Ontario; and Mont-Laurier, Quebec. The round before that, announced in May, picked Drumheller, Alberta; Orléans, Ontario; Boucherville, Quebec; and Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Vote for the routes you drive

With only 5 votes, use them on gaps you actually hit: cottage country, northern Ontario highways, or the long stretches between cities where winter range drops fastest. If your town isn’t on the map, suggest it so it can make the next ballot.
